SAINT FRANCIS OF ASSISI
SAINT FRANCIS OF ASSISI - was born in 1181 - 1226 and he was one of the most popular saints. He wanted his life to mirror Jesus Christ. He is known for being the saint for animals. He was born into a wealthy family and his parents wanted him to follow in the family business. It is written he heard the word from God to dedicate his life to servicing the poor and caring for the sick. He was a man of action, compassion and he proclaimed he could even talk to the animals. He established an order of monks and he spent much time rebuilding churches with all of his followers. Every year, on October 4 many Catholics worldwide celebrate the Feast of St. Francis and many churches allow animals to be blessed on such a special day. Our charity name was purposely named with all the letters of Assisi.
